The List

I only picked a few for the Fall. We have a lot going on right now, so I didn't want to take on anything too insurmountable. I can't wait to jump in and get started!

Redeeming Love by Francine Rivers

Creative Correction: Extraordinary Ideas for Everyday Discipline by Lisa Whelchel

Amy Butler's In Stitches: More Than 25 Simple and Stylish Sewing Projects by Amy Butler

And I also want to find a good international adoption book, but I need to contact a few people for good recommendations.

Happy Fall reading!

Where We Are Is Where We're Supposed To Be

I have had quite a few people ask me recently where we are in our adoption process at this time. Right now we are waiting until our house sells before we send in our application. Our house has been on the market for two weeks and we've only had one showing. A little discouraging, but we knew the market was slow when we listed. Last weekend we attended an AWAA seminar and it was great. We didn't learn a lot of new information, but it is always wonderful to hear other families' personal stories. It just further confirmed our desire to begin this journey. I wanted to go home and send out our application immediately, but I know that just isn't where we're at right now. We are also praying through our options on fundraising. We aren't sure exactly how we'll raise the money, but we're confident that God has blessed us with this calling and He will be faithful to provide. We'll do whatever we have to to bring our baby home.

So there you have it. As soon as we get in our new house we will send in our application, have some sort of fundraiser, and then begin our home study and start chasing those hundreds of papers! Sometimes I have a hard time waiting, mostly because I am so incredibly excited. My heart yearns for this child that God planned to be a part of our family and I just want to hold them in my arms and see their sweet face. But for now, we are right where we're supposed to be...and I'm finding rest in that.

Prayer

Please pray for this sweet family. They are facing something so great, I can't even comprehend it. Their faith in the midst of this trial is truly astounding.

One Week

I have been away from the computer for a week now, and it has been even longer since I posted. Not that my life is all that exciting, but I will be going to my old, easy friend "the list" to catch up.

-Last Friday my husband set it all up for me to go out with Kate for my birthday. I am always up for that! We decided calories didn't count for that night, so we had a utterly delicious dinner at Sips followed by a cheap movie. After that we went to Barnes and Noble to share an Oreo brownie and drink some yummy coffee concoctions. Like I said, no calories counted. We talked, talked, and then talked some more. I didn't get home until almost midnight. We were really livin' on the edge. And my sweet friend picked up the tab for the night. Thanks Kate! It was so fun and much needed!
-On Saturday, my actual birthday, I was awakened by Gibson telling me happy birthday and Maya with a big smile on her face. We just relaxed for the day and then our babysitters arrived at 4:30 (thanks Megan and Sarah!!!). Phil and I ran a few kid-free errands and then we were off to P.F. Changs (which I call P. F. Chingy's...with a hard "g", just like Ching-y...the rapper...yes I'm a dork). We had some amazing food and great conversation. It was such a gorgeous evening. We ate outside on the patio in the sunshine and 65 degree breeze. It really felt like Autumn and I loved every minute of it. Next we went to a movie and then to Bravo for dessert. Oh good gracious, did we ever eat dessert. It was FABULOUS. Then we arrived home to sleeping children. It was quiet, peaceful bliss. Thank you my love for a great night!
-On Sunday we went to the first gathering at Apex and then we headed straight home to clean. We had the first showing for our house and we busted our butts getting it perfect. I mean, our house looked great...and then we found out they never even showed up. Discouraging, yes, but they had a good excuse...an emergency appendicitis. I guess we'll let it slide this time.
-I spent the rest of Sunday packing and getting ready. On Monday morning I left to go on a trip with my sister, her two two-year old boys, my mom, my dad, and my two children of course. It was a shopping trip to Franklin, Tennessee. We've been there quite a few times in the last 5 years, so we have all of our favorite places we like to visit. We found some good deals and ate some really good food. The kids did great despite the fact that my sister and I shared a hotel room with all 4 kids. They slept well and we talked into the wee hours like high school girls. It was all in all a great trip eventhough my children decided to poop the entire time. I think between them I probably changed 25 poopy diapers in only 4 days. Seriously.
-Oh, Maya is walking around everywhere. She even learned how to stand up by herself from the ground (instead of pulling up on something). She is already getting so fast!
-I got home last night and I'm utterly exhausted...and sick with a crappy cold. My throat feels like it's slowly closing up. Today we need to do lots of cleaning again, we have a showing. I'm all for it though, the more action we can get on the house the better.

OK, that's all I can muster for now. I'm off to make the kids lunch, put them down for a nap, and then begin my cleaning rampage. Pray for a SOLD house!

---and now I have to throw up a quick "Praise the Lord!!!" for baby Reagan who flipped from a breech position to where she needs to be. We are so thankful. We can't wait to meet our little neice in just a few short weeks!!!

Silly Bear

Here are a few funny things Gibson said today:

-He climbed up on our bed which was neatly made, and since that doesn't happen often, he said, "Wow, look at this. It looks REALLY nice". Like he didn't know it could look like that. Ha!

-He heard Maya wake up from her nap and ran back to see her. When I walked in he was sitting in her rocking chair and said, "Hi Mom. I'm just taking a rest." It must have been hard work running down that hallway.

-He got out of the van tonight and went over and sat in the grass. He never does this, so I asked him what he was doing. He said, "I'm sitting in the grass, Mom, you read me a book please?" No clue where he got that, but it was so cute!

-Ok, I'll admit it. I've been all wrapped up in Big Brother this summer. It comes on at 8 and we usually put the kids to bed shortly thereafter. As it was coming on tonight he said, "Um, I watch Big Brother with you Mommy? Oh look, it's Julie!" So since he seems to be on a first name basis with Julie Chen, I decided it was time for bed.

He makes me laugh every single day. I love you Bear!
