Shout out...

Did anyone else see Shaklee featured on Rachael Ray today? It was great. You can go here to read about it!
On another note, I know voting for Maya was a pain with all of the "no" and "no thanks" pages! Sorry about that. But, once you have gone through that once, you don't have to do it every time! You can vote every day this month (only 3 days left!) and when you go back you can just go here, sign in at the top, search for Maya in Ohio (also the photo caption is "sweet cheeks"), and vote. That is all and you are done!
I am already feeling good with the sun actually shining today. Have a great weekend!

Please Vote!!!

So, why not give this a try? We entered one of Maya's pictures into a photo contest and the one with the most votes wins! If we won, everything would go straight toward our adoption expenses. Like my friend Emily reminded me, God is creative, right? He can use anything! So, please go vote for our beautiful baby girl and tell everyone you know! You can vote once every day through the end of this month. Thanks :)

*edited to add* It will send you through several offers, so you can say "no thanks" and also "skip" pages. It will then send you a confirmation email. Make sure to check your junk mail because it might end up there. You have to confirm in order for your vote to count!

We're spotless

Since our house has been on the market for almost 7 months, there has been a lot of cleaning going on in our home! I like a clean house, but I must say the deep cleaning things definitely fall by the wayside most of the time. Well, when you want your home in showroom condition, you have to work hard. We have had quite a few showings, so it has been exhausting. Today I cleaned the house with two screaming children following behind me for a 1:15 pm showing. I had a sinking feeling when I walked out of the house that no one was going to come. Unfortunately, my gut was right. If I knew who they were I would hunt them down right now! But I guess on the bright side, we have a sparkling clean home now. Marisa mentioned Shaklee products on her blog today. I, too, am a big fan. You may have noticed my website in my profile. After trying their products through my sister, I became a distributor because I loved it so much. I know that the whole "going green" thing is very in right now, but they have been making natural products for over 50 years. I have loved everything I have tried, from vitamins to makeup. I must say though, the cleaning products are my favorite. I was just thinking today as I cleaned about what a difference it makes. I used to get a headache and feel light-headed after cleaning all day from the fumes. There is no way I could close myself in a bathroom to clean because it would make me feel so sick. I never, ever experience that now. I also love that my kids can touch and eat off of any surface (and believe me they do!) and it isn't harmful at all. I can scrub my tub, put them in it, and not have to worry about the residue. I just don't think I could go back to all of those chemicals after seeing how well these products clean...and naturally! They also make their cleaning supplies concentrated, and when you compare prices, you get so much for your money. Their basic H2 is what I love so much and I know it will last me a year, if not more! It really is fabulous. Many products claim to be streak-free, but I have never seen anything perform so well on windows and mirrors. I also like the laundry detergent. Maya has some allergies/asthma issues and I definitely thinks it helps to have her bedding and clothing washed in it. Ok, I will stop going on and on! But I just had to post about something that has made such a difference in my everyday life. Drop me a line if you would like any info!

Well isn't this precious...

So trying to get a sweet little Easter picture together went a little something like this...

As promised

We had such a great time at the zoo last week. It was in the 60's and sunny. The kids really loved it and they are still talking about it!

Ready for our day! Look at this crazy hair, and all of those teeth!
Here is Maya checking out a snake. It pretty much gave me a heart attack. It was crawling up the glass and she had her hand right on its head. The girl has no fear.
Here is Gibson looking at a rhino. These things are so cool looking!

His favorite part was the map. He kept telling us that we needed to go south. It was hilarious.Big brother loved pulling his baby sister. He is a strong one!
He has had a thing for gorillas lately (he pronounces it "gra-illa"), so he loved riding on its back

Stopping for a yummy snack in the sun

Maya loved the elephants. She sleeps with a little pink one, and she thought it was amazing to see a huge one in person. When we left she said, "See you soon el-fants"

Gibson = brutal honesty

Today Gib was snuggled up with me on the couch. He looked up and stared at my face lovingly. Then our conversation went a little something like this:

G: Mommy, what is all that in your nose?
M: Hmmm, I don't know honey.
G: Is it snot?
M: Well, probably.
G: Oh no, it's not snot, just lots and lots of hairs.

Wow, thanks. Now I am paranoid and wondering if I have an excessive amount of nose hairs.

I'm here...barely

I know I have been MIA for the last week or so. I have no good excuse, just that I am tired. I have had something scheduled every day of the week; two showings on our house (yay!), house church, taking a meal to someone, story time, hanging out with friends and family, a doctor visit, the zoo....and the list goes on and on! They were all good things, but they just made for a full week. Hopefully I will be inspired to write a post of substance soon. You can guarantee that I will post some zoo pictures. We had such a great time! The weather could not have been more perfect, we got to see a lot of animals, and most of all the kids were so great while we were there. We all had a blast!

Oh, she's a fast one

Maya is definitely our little explorer. You have to keep an eye on her at all times, or who knows what she might get herself into. Today I had to go to the bathroom, and as other parents know, you usually have company on your potty breaks. Maya is always following close behind, which is why I should have known something was awry when I found myself with no audience. I went fast, which you learn to do when you have small children running loose (except for the times when you linger, even when you don't need to because you!!!). I didn't see her in the living room, but met Gibson who said, "Mommy, Maya's being bad!". Hmmm, not good. I came into the kitchen to see that she had pulled a basket off of a shelf and had taken out all of the photo albums and they were opened all over the floor. Then I saw three of the chairs pulled out from the table, the placemats crumpled on the floor, and Maya standing on the fourth chair climbing onto the table. I was gone for 45 seconds!
This girl keeps me hoppin'.

John Piper on adoption

Head over here if you want to be encouraged and blessed by God's idea for adoption. Thanks Jason for sending it along!

Well apparently it has been one year since I started this blog o' mine. I only have 76 posts, which in "blogland" means I don't write as much as most. I am fine with that. I am glad that I will have something to show my children someday to give them a glimpse at the craziness of our every day life right now. As I type I am reprimanding Maya for hitting Gibson upside the head. It really never ends.
I am so thankful for the friends I have made in the "blogosphere" (that term totally annoys me by the way, and anything else that people like to stick the word "blog" into). It has been amazing to keep up with some friends, and also to meet some new ones. I am sure this blog will take on a whole new dimension when we are fully in the throws of our adoption.
I am looking forward to another year and looking back to see the ways that God worked in our family.
Thanks to the three people that actually read this!

Gibson got a new haircut and he looks oh so handsome. He also looks like such a big boy...and I have mixed emotions about that!
