tooty booty

Gibson just came out of his room when he was supposed to be napping. He said, "Mommy I think I better go potty. I just tooted a whole bunch back there in my room. I had a really LONG one too." He was so serious about it all. I just had to try not to laugh! I LOVE the hilarious things that come out of their mouths these days!

um, YUM

I had a fridge full of yummy berries yesterday and decided to whip up something delightful for dessert. This recipe did not disappoint! Now, don't get me wrong, it will not be winning any low in calorie awards. Believe it or not I cut down the sugar from the original recipe and used a light butter. In the future I would probably cut the recipe in half and bake it in an 8x8 just for our family. If I had company I would do the full recipe listed here. It was even better today warmed up with some whipped cream on top! Seriously a crowd pleaser. So good!

-1 pint strawberries, quartered
-1/2 pint blueberries
-6 oz package of blackberries
-2 T. sugar
-2 cups all purpose flour
-1 cup brown sugar
-2 cups oats
-1 t. cinnamon
-1/2 t. nutmeg
-1 cup butter (2 sticks)

Preheat oven to 350. In a large bowl toss berries in sugar. Set aside. In another large bowl combine flour, brown sugar, oats, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Cut in butter until crumbly. Press half of the mixture into the bottom of a 9x13. Cover with berries. Top with remaining mixture. Bake for 40 min. until fruit is bubbly and top is golden brown. Serve with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream. Enjoy the deliciousness!

sweet girl

I sat on the edge of Maya's bed tonight holding her and squeezing her tight. She said, "I'm never gonna let go of you Mommy. And you never let go of me either, OK?".

Never in a million years baby girl.

The 4th...on the 12th

So I'm a little behind on the July 4th post, huh? Oh well. I wanted to post some pics of the festivities. At the last minute we decided to go to a parade. Honestly, it was kind of a bust. It was long, a little boring, and NO candy. It's only redeeming qualities were the veterans, the marching band, and lunch at City BBQ. Later that day we went to church and then out to dinner with friends. We finished it off by watching the fireworks from a parking lot. They were such great fireworks! Overall...a great Independence day.

Dude on stilts:
Ye old flag:
